New edgeband materials with aluminium tops or inserts are also processed with hand held edgebanding machines. However, this technique is limited and therfore REHAU application engineers have developed and patented a guillotine that facilitates the precision cutting of butt jointed edgebands.
In the furniture industry, a hand held bonding device is frequently used for edgebanding on free shapes. This device is used for bonding thermoplastics edgebands to chipboard or worktops, e.g. where a single strip of edgeband is butt jointed to the entire perimeter of a bistro table.
