Thermoplastic Fenders

The thermoplastic fender has both a functional and a design role. It is made from thermoplastic material utilising an injection molding process.

Benefits of a thermoplastic fender as compared to sheet metal include:
  • Weight savings
  • Corrosion prevention
  • Greater design flexibility
  • Greater resistance to minor damage
  • Significantly lower tool costs

The following types of material are typically employed:
  • TPO/EMPP
  • PC-Blends
  • PA-Blends
REHAU can supply the thermoplastic fender as a(n):
  • Unpainted conductive part (suitable for in-line or on-line painting)
  • Unpainted primer-coated conductive part (suitable for in-line or on-line painting)
  • Painted in-body-color matching the vehicle color
  • Structural or retaining parts may be fitted to the fender by means of adhesive bonding or welding (for uses such as for mounting purposes).
  • "Fender module" - (Expanding a fender to include the integration of items such as headlamps and water reservoirs before the module leaves the REHAU facility).
